From OCZ
Store we have two coolers manufactured by one of their divisions.
I know nothing about the way OCZ ships these products because
we received early samples. Maybe that there are shipped in
a kind of box, with thermal compound. I sincerely do not know.
The OCZ Gladiator is a cooler with a cooper heatsink and a
60mm fan installed on the buyer preference. We tested a version
with one of the most powerful fans on the market, a small
7.20W monster from YS-Tech. The heatsink is small, but very
well manufactured. It has a lot of cooper plates which are
soldered on the cooper base. The soldering technique is very
good and the base is well polished. The hole assembly is good
work, I would be very curious to know which company manufacturers
them for OCZ. It's not very heavy, but this is only a matter
of its reduced dimensions, cooper is heavy and manufacturers
do not have solution to this problem.
The fan
is a YS-Tech spinning at over 7000rpm, which makes a lot of
noise. This is one of the most powerful fans available, it's
able to move 40CFM! The small heatsink size influences the
noise level. We measured 64dB(A), a lot of noise for such
a small cooler. The interesting fact about this fan is that
it uses an ATX header to take power from the ATX source and
a fan header which provides the rpm monitoring.
The clip
features a very easy installation/removal and can be operated
only by hand. It has only one hole, but it's surely enough
to hold it close to the socket.
Unfortunately
I do not know anything about the CPUs this cooler can be used
with, but in our test system it succeeded to reach a superior
performance. The maximum temperature of 43C was one of the
best in this roundup.
As far
as I have seen on the web, this cooler is pretty inexpensive
also. I recommend you this cooler but take care that it can
be heard by your neighbors :) It fits to any motherboard and
it provides a performance suitable for overclocking applications.
