Quake
/ Linux
I
don't think that gamers are interested in Quake performance, but
most modern games do not measure so accurately the CPU's performance
as Quake does. Take a look below to Quake III results and notice
that overclocking doesn't bring a spectacular performance increase.

The
same trend is kept in Quake: Epox
leading the field and DFI at a small difference behind MSI.
The above results are the mathematical average of ten Quake timedemo
loops. Such small differences could not be recorded accurately in
only one session due to results inconsistency.

Linux
compilation test is also an inconsistent test. We had to compile
the kernel for five different times to get the above results. As
you can see under Linux DFI surprised with a very good performance.
AD70-SR succeeded to compile the kernel in a time between Epox
and MSI.
The
test session didn't display an amazing performance for the DFI AD70-SR.
But we have to consider that it scored almost as good as a motherboard
much more expensive. We tested the systems with all the three memory
slots filled to discover and address potential memory problems (a
total of 768Mb RAM) and it's possible for DFI AD70-SR to score better
with only 256Mb. |
