Conclusions

MSI KT3 Ultra2 is an interesting motherboard. Although based on a chipset which is no longer the king of the road, the motherboard was able to face most challenges. The features set is provocative: standard UDMA133 ports, UDMA133 RAID, 5.1 channel audio, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth. With these characteristics the motherboard is able to offer a wide range of attractions to regular users and enthusiasts. I was interested mostly in the motherboard's compatibility, stability and performance. Tests revealed that KT3 Ultra2 is compatible with all the memory brands and types tested. The board is also very tolerant and it is able to work with various memory modules in different memory slots. The board's stability can be described as good, unfortunately KT3 Ultra2 can not work with memory clocks higher than 333Mhz when all memory slots are filled with modules. Fortunately the board is rock stable at 333Mhz, no matter how many memory modules are used. The board's performance is very good, being very close to KT400 based boards. In fact there is almost no difference between the performance delivered by 333Mhz and 400Mhz memory on KT400.

Considering the above facts I recommend MSI KT3 Ultra2 to all users. MSI sells KT3 Ultra2 together with the Bluetooth device and it might be a pretty good investment on a long term. I don’t know how many Bluetooth enabled products we will see in the next twelve months, but it seems that the market is moving in the wireless direction. The board can be purchased at an affordable price on the web, being a competitive priced board for the power it delivers.
